Rick Duran is a resident of The Well of New Atlantis. He can often be found wandering the southern sections of The Well, and is a regular at Jake's. He has a standoffish personality, and openly brags about his criminal activities. However, if he is called on it, he will quickly cave.

He is a balding man who wears Frontier Attire. He carries a Solstice with ammo for protection. He also has some Credits.

His greetings include:

"What's with the starin'? You need somethin'?"

"What do you want? I'm very busy, as you can tell."

"If ya' got anythin' valuable on ya', keep it close. Never know what might happen down here."

"Best watch your pockets around me. Just sayin'."

"Mess with me and I'll serve you my famous knuckle sandwich. Scared, aren't ya?"

If you stop speaking mid-conversation, he will prompt you to talk by saying:

"You're kinda creepin' me out here, bud."

"So we're just gonna stare at each other, then? Cool, cool..."

"What, are you waiting for me to break out into song or somethin'? Let's hurry it up."

He will end conversations by saying:

"Thank god, I was sick of hearing your voice."

"Oh, were we still talkin'?"

"Whatever."

"Finally, I was getting bored."

"Beat it."

In conversation with him, you can talk to him about his bizarre behavior.

Sounds like you've got something to hide.

"Oh yeah? Maybe I'll hide my boot in your ass if you don't quit askin' questions. That is, unless you're with security. In which case, I wasn't threatening you, that was just a joke, and no crime's been committed. I'm actually a very nice person."

I don't like your attitude.

"Yeah, well news flash buddy: I don't like anything about you, either. In fact, I dislike you with such conviction that I'm inclined to fight you right now. Whattaya say we go ten rounds. Right here, right now?"

Alright, let's do it little man.

"Well, luckily for you, I actually hurt my hand when I was punching some other asshole's lights out. The doc says it'll take a few weeks or months to heal. We'll take a raincheck. But once my hand heals, you're done for!"

You aren't worth the effort.

"Ha! I knew you were a coward the moment I laid eyes on ya'. A word of advice: down here, you need to be big, strong, and cunning to survive. Like me. A pipsqueak like you won't last a day."

Jake has several lines where he will antagonize Rick Duran

"I have half a mind to ban you just like Kay did. Leave me alone."

"You're like a damn roach. I can't get rid of you."

"Damn it, Rick. Can't you just leave me in peace?"

Rick will respond by saying:

"Oh please. Without me you wouldn't have any business."

"Jeez, what's your problem today? And every day for that matter?"

"Come on, man. Just one beer for your best bud, yeah?"
