Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Go to Vectera.
  2. Talk to Supervisor Lin.
  3. Get information from the computer.
  4. Find the crashed ships and find Heller.
  5. Go to Bessel III and find Barrett.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

After your first Constellation mission Sarah Morgan recommended you look for Barrett next because no one has heard from him since you left him on Vectera where he stayed behind to help the miners fend off the Crimson Fleet attack while you took the Frontier to bring Artifact ETA to the Lodge. So Vectera is the place to pick up the trail to find Barrett.

Vectera[edit]

Vectera is the second moon of the planet Anselon in the Narion system. Land at the Argos Extractors Mining Outpost and talk to Supervisor Lin.
A very upset Lin gives you a recount of the events after you left: More pirates showed up and the fight cost the lives of Calvert, Troy and some of the new dusties. Lin was pinned down behind some crates with Barrett. To save Lin Barrett jumped out of cover, killed two pirates, captured the third and demanded to talk wih the pirate's leaders. Unfortunately Heller had already been captured by the pirates, so Barrett yielded and let himself get captured too. The pirates took both of them and flew away. Lin tried to ping a transmission to the pirate's ship from the comms building, but it didn't work.
Lin is devastated about the people she lost on this job and just wants to leave here now.
Go into the building to your right and don't forget to pick up Heller's Cutter from the cutter crate. You can find Vectera Control Room Key in the office. The control room is behind the sealed door you have to open with the switch in front of it, and you find Communications Computer inside. At the moment the computer is unpowered. If you have the security skill you can pull out Emergency Transmission 01. Otherwise you need to provide three power cells to the auxiliary power banks in the next room. You can find Emergency Power Cells:

  • Living Quarters
    • In the office.
    • In the storage shelfs outside the office.
  • Outside
    • Outside, on a trolley next to a destroyed robot.
    • You can check the same robot to find another power cell.
    • You can ask Lin for a power cell.
  • Operations building
    • In the first room on a trolley next to the desk.
    • In the suit room in a locker.
    • You can check the MedBench in the suit room to find another power cell.
    • In the elevator room in a tools shack behind a lock with master level security.
    • In the storage room on a shelf.

Insert three power cells into the three power receptacles in the control room in the living quarters and you can access the computer and download Emergency Transmission 01.
The slate has a quick conversation between Barrett and Heller aboard the pirate ship. Barrett sent this message and embedded interstellar coordinates so you will be able to follow them. Find Lin outside who is busy disassembling the base. Lin is delighted to learn that Barrett and Heller are alive and pulls coordinates to their destination from the transmission. You can offer her to join your team which she will decline for the moment, although you can talk to her right again and hire her.

Crash site[edit]

Your next destination is a random planet or moon. Fly there and land at the crashed ship whenever you are ready.
The crash site will we a short walk from your landing site so jump over there and talk to Heller on the east side of the wreck.
Heller gives a recount of the events: Barrett told Heller to feign a fight between them. When the pirates tried to break it up Barrett reached for one of their guns and accidently discharged it which killed the pilot and destroyed the flight console. Barrett and Heller were the only survivors of the following crash, but unfortunately they were picked up by another crimson fleet vessel. Heller couldn't make out what Barrett was saying to the pirates, but they all departed and left Heller behind. Apparently Barrett told the pirates he would be worth some ransom, but Heller isn't sure. But he got a signal from the ship before it grav jumped away which he hands you a copy of. Heller then asks if he may join you which you can accept or decline.
Then listen to Emergency Transmission 02. It's part of a conversation between Barrett and someone called Matsura. Barrett pulled the same trick of embedding grav jump coordinates into the message again, only that this time he has to look at a reflection in a window. Your next target is Bessel III. The crash site has nothing else of interest, so return to your ship.

Bessel III[edit]

Go to Bessel III in the Bessel System and land at the Ransacked Research Outpost where you will be attacked by pirates. Defend yourself and find the door leading down to the crimson fleet outpost.
Follow the stairs down to a large window on your left. Down there you see Barrett idly chitchatting with some Matsura the Grim, awaiting rescue and probably tea. Matsura is actually quite polite and asks for ransom for Barrett's freedom. You can pay Credit.png4,000, if you are with Sarah Morgan you can let her handle the situation, you can persuade Matsura to let Barrett go for free, or you can start shooting.
You can talk to Barrett afterwards to get some more information. Return to the Lodge when you are ready.

Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Mission system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all entries may appear in your log; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the mission is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with missions that have multiple possible outcomes or missions where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Mission" it means the mission disappears from the Active Mission list, but you may still receive new entries for that mission.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the mission by entering setstage mission stage, where mission is the internal name of the mission, and stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) mission stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the mission using resetquest mission, where mission is the internal name of the mission.
