Walkthrough

During Final Glimpses Vladimir gave you two locations to artifacts, one of them on Freya III.
When you approach Freya III you will encounter a satellite which is trying to hail you. If you accept the call you will receive a garbled emergency message from Nishina Research Station requesting emergency evac.

When you land at Nishina Research Station you will find yourself at a landing pad west of the facility.
Go up the stairs or take the elevator and cross teh bridge towards the door with the bis Nishina logo above it.
As you approach the door Ethan Hughes asks you over the intercom what you business is at the research station. If you tell him that you respond to the station's distress siganal he surprisingly claims to know nothing about that. If you relay the message about the explosion in the high energy research lab, or if you tell him that you are from constellation, he wants you to talk to Director Kaia Patel.
For security reasons Hughes insists you come alone, so, if you have a follower, they will wait outside.

To the Director

Inside the station Hughes will perform a thourough scan befor you may enter, and he also issues a lockdown and implements protocol delta for the senior staff.
He then opens the inner door, introduces himself and leads you to the director. As he leads you through storage something suddenly shifts.

You are still in the same place, but it is destroyed and overgrown.
When you move forward a bit you will be attacked by a couple of Cataxi Warriors. If you want you can safely explore the small area behind you before you move forward.
When you kill the first one you will shift back to a confused Hughes.

Apparently the same amount of time has passed in both realities, as Hughes tells you that you were gone for a minute. He identifies the creatures you describe as native to the planet, but he believes nothing of your story and suspects you a spy or something. Yet he still wants you to talk to the director.
As you follow Hughes into the Work Room you shift again.

You don't have opportunity to explore the room you are in, as Rafael Aguerro embarks from behind the desk. He sent the distress signal you picked up and he theorizes that you shifting may be a side effect of the accident.
Three months ago Rafael was calibrating an experiment in the high energy research lab when an explosion happened that caused a gas leak and sparked a fire. Rafael was trapped in the control room. In this realiy everyone in the research station but him died. He also tells you that the probe used in the experiment feeds energy into the artifact.
As Rafael is describing the subject of the experiment, clearly an artifact, you shift back.

You shift back to an alarmed Hughes who is talking to the director on the intercom. When he notices that you are back he calms down and you continue towards the director's office. He also gives you directions to the director's office in case anything happens: On the second floor, end of the hall.
This comes in handy because when you leave the work room into the hall you shift again.

When you proceed down the floor Cataxi Warriors will attack you from the room on your left.
In the same room you find the corpse of Dr. Tatiana Barakova as well as Dr. Barakova's Journal.

Go back into the hallway and into the room marked 'Emergency'. Dispose of a couple more Cataxi Warriors and go up the staircase.
At the top of the stairs you shift back.

By this point Hughes is more annoyed that perturbed by the shifting and you continue to the director's office.

Director Patel introduces herself and chief scientist Maria Hughes, then asks about the shifting. You discuss the shifting and the other universe.
You learn that in this universe the hydrogen leak caused by the accident was contained in a minute or two so there was no explosion. On this side Rafael is presumed dead. It hasn't been confirmed yet because the research level has been locked down since the accident.
You also learn about the artifact the station was studying. The whole facility was built to study the gravitational distortion caused by the artifact.
The story of the accident is the same in this univere. Three months ago Rafael was calibrating an experimental probe when something went wrong. There was a series of explosions.

The scientists up here are completely cut off from the research level where the experiment took place. They only know that the experiment is still running and the artifact's gravitational field is increasing in strength. Maria Hughes tried to shut the probe down via a control unit but the probe wasn't responding.
To shut the probe down manually someone needs to get into the research level which is on lockdown in this universe. But you know that in the other universe Rafael is back from the research level to the living quarters where you encountered him, so the lockdown must have ended in the other universe. This means you have a way into the research level in the other universe. To make use of this you need to be able to control your shifting. Maria suggests using the probe's control unit.

To the Fabrication Lab

Follow Maria to the fabrication lab next door. Unfortunately, when you leave the office and make a turn, you shift.

You need to go to the fabrication lab. The way ahead is blocked, so turn around and go right at the end of the corridor.

The downward staircase at the end of the hall leads to the area where you met Rafael. But you can't take this way because in this universe the door to the work room isn't working.
So go left through the door with the emergency sign above.

Keep left through the door labeled 01.
Then left again through a breach in the wall.

Climb down the collapsed floor into the work room discuss the situation with Rafael. He gives you Nishina Pantry Keycard and follows you.
You can talk to him to get some details about the situation.

The door in the south wall leads to the pantry. Go through there, kill a few Cataxi Warriors and leave the pantry on the other side. When you enter the cafeteria you shift.

Your sudden appearance shocks and frightens everyone in the cafeteria.
Go through the door to the main hall and you shift again.

Go through the hole in the wall to your right and through the door to your left. Fight off the Cataxi Warriors.

You seem to be at a dead end. You can go into security but there is no way forward.
In security you can access this universe's Security Office Computer where you can look at this universe's version of the security log of the day of the accident.
Talk to Rafael to discuss options. He will try to clear the door. When you go back into security you shift.

Talk to Ethan Hughes who is right in front of you. He gives you directions to the fabrication lab, down the hall and the stairs next to the atrium, and unlocks the door.
If you ask him about the Cataxi he will unlock Security Office Computer which had been locked with expert security level. He also tells you that the research level's security system may attack you as long as lockdown is active. You can also persuade him to give you Experiment A-7 to deal with the Cataxi in the other universe. In Security Office Computer you can look at this universe's version of the security log of the day of the accident.

Leave security and go across the foyer and to your right into main hall. If you go to storage you will shift. You then can shift back through security.
If from main hall you go to dining hall you will shift. Go through security to shift back.

If you go straight through main hall you will shift. Fight the Cataxi and continue.

At the end of main hall there are two doors. Take the left one.

Go through the breach in the wall and through the door to your left into the atrium.

Fight the Cataxi and go through the door in the south-eastern wall.
Turn right go up the stairs and you will shift.

At the bottom of the stairs, to your left, is main hall.
Go up the stairs and turn left into fabrication lab where Maria Hughes is waiting for you.

She does some sciency things with the probe control unit and a sparkly thing appears on the other side of the lab.
When you step into the distortion but nothing happens. Maria does some more sciency things and you shift.

To shift back you need to find a probe control unit. Find one on a workbench across the room, straight ahead, next to a storage box.
You can now see a distortion in the north-western corner of the lab. Calibrate the distortion and you shift back.

Discuss with Maria what you've learned. You are now able to see distortions and will no longer involuntarily shift when you walk through them.
You now need to go down to research level and reach the high energy research lab where you have to disengage the power interlocks, then pull the emergency shutdown to stop the probe. This should end all the shifting.
Before you go you need to talk to the director.

Back to the Director

Leave the fabritaction lab into the hall and turn left. At the end of the corridor turn left into the director's office.
Director Patel offers you supplies from Dr. Barakova, and you discuss what will happen when you turn off the probe. Whichever universe you are in at the moment you switch the probe off will become reality and the other universe will end. This puts you in the position to either safe Rafael form the alternate universe or to safe the staff of thirty people from this universe. You are not locked into the decision you tell Director Patel you will make.
She reminds you again that the security system will attack you as long as lockdown is active, then asks Ethan to unlock the elevator to research level.

You can now freely move around both universes without involuntarily shifts. You can safely walk through these sparkly distortions. If you want to shift calibrate your probe control unit to it (Select 'calibrate' on the distortion).

Supplies

To get supplies leave the director's office, go through main hall, and down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs go right, across the hall, and into the clinic. Talk to Dr. Tatiana Barakova and she will give you a few medical supplies.
If you picked up her journal from the other universe you can show it to her. She will give you a few more supplies and will be a bit more affable.
In her office you can find this universe's version of Dr. Barakova's Journal. The office door is locked with advanced security level, or you can use shifting to get in and out.

You can get some additional information from Maria in the fabrication lab.

Research Level

When you are ready find the elevator in main hall. This universe's elevator controls aren't responding because of lockdown so you can't ride it down to research level, but in the other universe lockdown has ended. Use the distortion in front of the elevator to shift.

If you need to get back to the original universe use the distortion next to the alternate universe's elevator.
Otherwise ride the elevator to research level.
This universe's version of the chamber you are in is nearly collapsed so shift back to the original universe.

Facilities Section

An automated voice informs you that lockdown is active.
To override lockdown in the facilities section go down the ramp and go straight ahead towards the door with a distortion in front of it.

To get into the facilities section you can either pick the door that is locked with master security level, or you shift into the alternate universe.

In the alternate universe the door is open. Go straight ahead towards the two empty robot booths, and go through the door to your right. Ahead a piece of wall is ripped open. Go through there and pick up Nishina Particle Lab Keycard. Use the distortion in the north-eastern cornere of the office to shift back to the original universe.

Open the office door. You need to go through the door right ahead of you, but you'll have to fight the automated security system first.

Go through that door into a room that looks unfinished and half collapsed. Go down the ramp.

The L-shaped corridor that follows has three rooms labeled 80, 81 and 82. The doors to 81 and 82 as locked as is one of the doors to 80.
Go into 80 through the other door and use the distortion to shift.

In this universe you can go into 81, and through 80's north-eastern door into 82.

Go into 82 and around the machinery in it's center. In the north-western corner you find the terminal to override lockdown. This universe's version is smashed, to use the distortion in a niche of the north side of the machinery to shift.

Go back to Facilities Computer, go into security system and override lockdown for the facility area. Now all doors in this area are open.

Leave 82 through the south-western door, turn right below the ramp and go into the particle accelerator room.

Particle Accelerator Section

An automated voice informs you that the accelerator section is under lockdown. Use the distortion in the corridor to shift.

Go ahead, turn left at the end of the corridor and go down the stairs. The bottom of the staircase is collapsed, so use the distortion on the staircase to shift.

Proceed downstairs into a large room with catwalks and accelerator tubes. You will have to fight the security systems.
You need to get into accelerator robotics.

You can use any distortion to shift into the alternate universe. A good place is the north east corner of the room up on the catwalk.
Alternate universe's accelerator room is a mess. You will have to fight a lot of Cataxi including a queen.
If you use the distortion in the north east corner you can fall back into accelerator robotics and have a more controlled fight.

When you have cleard the room of Cataxi go back to the door to accelerator robotics in the north east corner of the room. In this universe it's labeled 'emergency'.
Go west and jump down the collapsed ramp.

Pick up Nishina Utility Closet Keycard from a table between two workstations.

You can go through the door to the south west, up the stairs, and into accelerator control.

Use the distortion in accelerator robotics to shift back into the original universe.

Climb up the broken staircase in accelerator robotics and leave through the door ahead on the right into the main accelerator room.
Use any distortion to shift to the original universe. A convenient one it ahead to the south east.

Now you need to go to floor level on the south side of the accelerator room. If you used the previously described distortion you will be close to a staricase behind you.

Go west between the accelerator tube and the wall. The last door on the left side is the utility closet.
Unlock it and use the distortion inside to shift to the alternate universe.

In the alternate universe the wall to zour left is smashed in so go through there. Ahead is the Accelerator Mainframe Computer. It's smashed too, so use the distortion to your right to shift to the original universe.

Access the Accelerator Mainframe Computer, go into security system and override the lockdown of the accelerator control room. You now have to fight more security systems in the original universe.
The door to this room is still locked, so use the distortion on your left to shift to the alternate universe.

Go back into the utility closet and use the distortion to shift to the original universe.

Climb up the staircase that is in front of you. Turn right and go north towards accelerator control.
Use Accelerator Control Room Computer to end lockdown in accelerator section.

Leave accelerator control into the main room and go to the eastern corner where on the floor level a door to the access tunnel is now open.

Storage Section

Go through there. The door on the far side of the tunnel is blocked, so use the distortion about half way between the doors to shift to the alternate universe.

The door in the alternate universe is blocked even more, but there is a collapsed section in the south wall that leads into a natural cave. Go through there. You will have to fight some Cataxi.

Follow the tunnel south, then west.

There are two distortions here. The first one is in a niche in the south-west corner of the cave. You don't have toi shift to the original universe here, but if you do you can leave the niche, turn right then go north east and use the distortion ahead to shift back to the alternate universe.

The second distortion is above you in a collapsed room. When you come down the tunnel from east to west you see a piece of rock above you that forms a bridge. To get up there go forward and keep to the wall on your right hand side. This will lead you up until you can cross the bridge.
Go west and use the distortion to shift to the original universe.

You are now in a room that is labeled 09 from the outside.
Leave the room and follow the sign on the wall towards high energy research lab.

The door to storage at the end of the corridor is locked, so turn left into room 10.
You will have to fight some automated security systems.

Use the distortion in the south east corner of the room to shift to the alternate universe.

The door to the corridor is blocked, but there is a convenient hole in the east wall.
You will have to fight some Cataxi here, including a queen.

Keep to the wall on you right hand side and climb up the rocks that lead on top of room 10.

Now keep to the wall on your left hand side until you reach the collapsed corridor that leads to high energy research lab.
Jump down into the corridor and go left into storage.

Fight some more Cataxi. Then go ahead and right twice into the office. Use the distortion here to shift into the original universe.

In the original universe use Storage Room Computer to override lockdown in storage section.
You can use Storage Room Security Computer to deactivate the defences, otherwise you will have to fight them when you leave the office.

Leave the office and go left, past the containers, and up the ramp ahead. You find yourself in front of accelerator tubes again.
On your left the hall leads to a door to the access tunnel that is blocked.
On your right a couple of catwalks lead up to a door towards a staircase that is locked.

Use the distortion ahead and slightly to your right to shift to the alternate universe.

If you need to shift back to the original universe you can use the distiotion down the hall to the east.
Go up the catwalks through the open door to the stairs.

At the top of the stairs you find a small room with a big window overlooking a large chamber. You have reached the high energy research lab!

High Energy Research Lab

First you should clear the alternate universe lab of Cataxi. Don't start flipping switched just yet. It's not fatal if you do, it just makes things a bit easier if you don't.

There are several distortions in both universes' versions of the lab. When you shift to original universe automated security systems will attack you. You can fight them, or you can go to the lab's control room and deactivate them.

The easiset way to deactivate the security system is from alternate universe to go to the control room, use the distortion in the control room to shift to original universe, unlock Lab Security Computer and deactivate everything.

Two catwalks run along the north side and the south side of the lab. The east side of the north catwalk is where you entered the lab.
Both catwalks have a staircase at the east end that leads down.
In the sencter of the room the high bridge connects the two catwalks.
The control room overlooks the lab from the east side. You can enter the control room from the north catwalk.
On the west side of the lab artifact lambda is still embedded in rock with the probe firing rays of energy at it.

There are seven power interlocks:

1. South side of the probe.
2. North side of the probe.
3. Below the probe platform on the south side.
4. Below the probe platform on the north side.
5. South catwalk on a console near the center.
6. On the east side of a massive construction behind the probe platform.
7. On a machine below the north catwalk's east end.

If the power interlocks flash freen they are engaged. If the power interlocks flash red they are disengaged.

If you disengage all seven power interlocks in one universe the emergency shutdown control becomes active. It is on a console on the right side of the artifact when you are looking at it.
If you activate the shutdown control you will be asked if you want to shut down the experiment and select this reality. ^{How do these options play out?}

To save both Rafael from the alternate universe and the rest of the staff from the original universe you have to re-run the experiment.

Go to the original universe and to the north east corner of the room below the catwalk. Here you find the corpse of this universe's Rafael Aguerro.
Take his Probe Calibration Protocol off his body. It describes the steps you need to take.

Go into the original universe's control room.
Front and center of the room is Lab Control Computer. Next to it you find Calibration Test which has some more information you need.

Follow Probe Calibration Protocol.

Ensure all Power Interlocks are engaged

Engaged means green. Check in both universes.

On the Lab Control Computer, initiate Degaussing

Do in both universes: Go to control room, access Lab Control Computer, open Lab Controls, select Degaussing and initiate Degaussing.

Toggle the indicated Power Interlocks off, then back on, to degauss

Do in both universes: The computer tells you that a couple of power interlocks require degaussing. 4, 5 and 6 in alternate universe, 3 and 5 in original universe. ^{Is this random?}
Go to these interlocks, disengage end re-engage each of them.

Verify that all Power Interlocks have been successfully degaussed

Do in both universes: Return to control room, access Lab Control Computer, open Lab Controls, select Degaussing and check that it says 'COMPLETE'.

Once all Interlocks have been degaussed, initiate Frequency Calibration

Do in both universes: Go to control room, access Lab Control Computer, open Lab Controls, select Frequency Calibration, Initiate Frequency Calibration.
If the screen says 'Initialization comlete. Frequence Calibration Controls are now available.' you are good. Otherwise you have an error somewhere.

Select the desired output frequency

From Calibration Test you know that your desired intake frequency is 34Ghz.

In original universe set output frequency to 40 GHz

In alternate universe set output frequency to 24 GHz.

Verify that the intake frequency is stable and meets experimental parameters

The screen now shows 'Inkate Waveform: STABLE' in both universes as intake frequency in both universes is 34 GHz.

Activate the Primary Calibration Control on the front control console

Primary Calibration Control is on a console on the left side of the artifact when you are looking at it. Activate it in both universes and you will shift a couple of times and have another vision.

You wake up on a stretcher with Dr. Barakova looking over you. On your left Rafael is looking at his own corpse.

After a brief discussion Director Patel lets you go with the artifact.

You can talk to everyone who survived: Dr. Barakova in the clinic.
Diractor Patel in her office.
Maria Hughes in the fabrication lab. Maria will give you credits if you return the probe control unit from the alternate universe.

Notes

• Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Mission system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
• Not all entries may appear in your log; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the mission is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with missions that have multiple possible outcomes or missions where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Mission" it means the mission disappears from the Active Mission list, but you may still receive new entries for that mission.
• On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the mission by entering setstage mission stage, where mission is the internal name of the mission, and stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) mission stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the mission using resetquest mission, where mission is the internal name of the mission.
