Walkthrough[edit]

Nova Galactic Research Station[edit]

Nova Galactic Research Station

After receiving the key to the moon base from The Emissary, travel to and enter the abandoned base. Activate a terminal to discover that this base was involved in the first test of a ship-born grav drive, as well as a super computer capable of (among other things) simulating feeding bread to every duck on earth. A recording of this test is available on the roof. Climb up onto the roof and activate the antenna to hear the first test of a grav drive. At this point you will be directed to the NASA Launch Tower on Earth.

Scattered throughout are a number of personal slates which can be picked up for additional background on the people on this base:

  1. Moon Base - Slate 1 in on a box in the entryway to the west; the room which has the "NASA Communications Relay 02" sign.
  2. Moon Base - Slate 2 is on the desk opposite the Nova Galactic Research Terminal, in front of a broken TV screen.
  3. Moon Base - Slate 3 is in a locker in the same room as Slate 1.
  4. Moon Base - Slate 4 is in a personal berth across from a barbell bench.
  5. Moon Base - Slate 5 is in the kitchen area, next to a toaster oven.
  6. Moon Base - Slate 6 is on a cat walk above in the same room as the Nova Galactic Research Terminal.

NASA Launch Tower on Earth[edit]

The NASA Launch Tower

On approach you will see an elevator, high up on the tower, which can take you into the launch facility. To access this elevator, you will need to climb up the exterior of the tower. There are multiple ways up the tower, however a good starting point is a powered-off door on the tower base, facing the abandoned space ship (look for the red light). While this door is of no use to access the tower, it is a good starting point to start climbing the tower. Jump up until you end on a flat area with a bridge to the other half of the tower. Take the stars to the left of the elevator and continue walking along the catwalks, then through the building, until you see the elevator ahead of you past a large hole in the floor (which can be jumped over). Once at the elevator, enter the room opposite and insert a fuel cell (provided nearby) to power up the elevator, then enter the elevator and go down to the Nasa Launch Facility.

Nasa Launch Facility[edit]

The artifact in the research facility

Once in the abandoned and decrepit Launch Facility, access the Nasa Research Computer on the desk and read the logs to learn about a researcher (Judith Tatienne) working in the facility. Continue deeper into the facility, through the Museum of Space Flight. In the rear of the museum a destroyed bathroom gives way to the rest of the facility, but first pick up Judith - Personal Recording which talks about Judith's interactions with Victor Aiza. Continuing on into the facility, you will find remnants of humanity's first ventures into the stars, such as a facility to test planetary settlements. Along the way you will need to flip various switches to turn on power to doors, or insert Emergency Power Cell to do the same.

Near the end of the facility, you will encounter a room full of turrets and a robot. Opposite the entrance of the room is a room with a terminal in it to turn off the turrets without destroying them (behind two Advanced locks). Also in this room is a switch to bring power to a security gate, required to continue through the facility.

An additional Nasa Research Computer will be on a desk immediately before entering the actual research facility, which is mostly in 0g. Navigate this space until you reach the control are which contains a locked button to release the artifact, and a terminal. Reading the terminal you unlock the button, as well as learn that the grav drive testing destroyed earth's atmosphere, and the Victor was aware of this but proceeded anyways to force humanity to the stars. Release the artifact (which causes the space to return to full gravity) and walk to the rear of the artifact containment device and pick it up. An easy way to access the containment device is to go to the storage room to the left of the terminal. Once unlocked, there is a hole above the boxes in the center of the room you can jump into. From there it is easy to access the artifact containment.

After collecting the artifact, you will be beset with Starborn who will attack you to steal the artifact. Kill or otherwise evade them and make your way back through the facility to the elevator and return to the planet's surface.

Another Meeting with The Hunter and The Emissary[edit]

Once outside of the tower you will see the Scorpius with The Hunter and The Emissary waiting for you. Upon talking to them, they reveal that you must make a choice of which of them you will side with, and that you will need to fight the other in The Underground Temple. In addition, you can choose to side with neither of them, and fight them both in the temple. In any case, you will need to complete Final Glimpses before this quest completes.

Companion Affinity[edit]

There are multiple affinity events that can happen during this mission.

Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Mission system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all entries may appear in your log; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the mission is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with missions that have multiple possible outcomes or missions where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Mission" it means the mission disappears from the Active Mission list, but you may still receive new entries for that mission.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the mission by entering setstage mission stage, where mission is the internal name of the mission, and stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) mission stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the mission using resetquest mission, where mission is the internal name of the mission.
