Piloting

Piloting is a Novice Tech skill.

Piloting is automatically unlocked and can already be learned by using a skill point to learn it.

Backgrounds[edit]

This skill is automatically learned with the following backgrounds:

Skill Increases[edit]

  • Signing up for the UC Vanguard in the mission Supra et Ultra has the player use a piloting simulator as part of the entrance exam. By attempting the piloting section multiple times you can easily acquire ship kills without using one's own ship or risking death in combat.
  • Large numbers of Crimson Fleet ships are always found at The Key in the Kryx system, and while they can rapidly overwhelm low to medium leveled players, a hit-and-run playstyle in which you jump in, target the weakest ship possible, and then jump out as soon as it is destroyed can be very effective. Additionally, the turrets protecting the base qualify as ships for the purposes of this skill, and long range weapons (tested at 3,000m) can outrange them and easily destroy them, provided you have already defeated the other ships in the area.
  • Mission boards in most settlements and starstations provide a steady supply of bounties on enemy ships, many of which actually come with a small group of ships to face.
  • Disabling and capturing an enemy ship does not qualify as a kill, though destroying a ship you have already boarded and cleared still qualifies as a kill.
