The Deserted Mineral Plant is an abandoned Helium-3 mine and refinery taken over by hostiles, which can be placed as a random point of interest.

Layout[edit]

The Deserted Mineral Plant is a large building on top of a rocky hill. It is divided into five interior areas: the main entrance, Crew Quarters, Collection, the Refinery, and Storage.

The main entrance is located on the top of the hill, and consists of a long corridor leading to a lobby. From here, it is possible to go left to the Crew Quarters, forward to Collection, or right to Storage. There is a security office secured with an Expert lock.

The Crew Quarters occupy the left hand side of the first floor of the plant, containing dormitories, a bathroom, a kitchen, a small gym, and a workshop. At the back end are two doors to Collection. A locker in one of the rooms contains a copy of Freestar Captain's Log 02.

Collection is a large, multi-floor room containing gas mining equipment and catwalks, as well as multiple hostile NPCs. The catwalks provide high ground, but the floor offers better cover. There is an inactive, reprogrammable robot on the ground floor, beneath the entrance from the lobby. At the top of the chamber is a computer room giving access to the Refinery.

The Refinery is another multi-floor room, directly above the lobby. It consists of a large chamber containing large tanks, each of which is surrounded by multiple helium-3 dispensers. A catwalk on the left side of the room allows access to a top-floor computer room and laboratory overlooking the main entrance to the facility. This catwalk also contains a computer that will open the sealed door to Storage.

Storage is a large warehouse to the right of the main facility. It has an airlock of two large cargo doors, but the doors must be powered up from within the warehouse to function. There are entrances to the warehouse from both the lobby and the Refinery, but these doors are initially sealed and must be unlocked with the Refinery computer. The warehouse has two levels, with a cargo elevator allowing transportation between them. The boss chest is on the ground floor, next to the cargo doors.
