A Sentient Microbial Colony is a point of interest found on planets with the Sentient Microbial Colonies trait.
In order to discover the associated planet trait, you'll need to scan 1-3 Microbial Communities. The colonies have the following description when you look at them with your scanner: "Tendrils filter through the air and ground for nutrients, and relay sensory information to the microbial colony."
