Abandoned Mine is an occupied mining base with lookout tower and a deep cave.

Exterior[edit]

A mining base was built on a hillside, with a lookout tower on top of the hill, a small air-locked habitat to the left of the mine entrance, and a large tent to the right of the mine entrance. Beware of mines on walkways and entrances to airlocks. The lookout tower is unoccupied. There may be up to three guards in the tent and two in front of the entrance to the mine. Directly to the right of the mine door is an alarm.

Interior[edit]

The Deep Cave mine entrance is a tunnel that turns sharply to the left. At the turn is an inactive Robot Model A, and a computer terminal that can be used to activate and reprogram it. If you set friend or foe, then activate the robot, it will stomp through the complex eliminating guards.

At the end of the entrance tunnel, a guard stands with their back turned to you on a natural balcony of rock overlooking a large cavern. To the right, a downward slope curves around a deep chasm, before coming out into a part of the cavern strewn with mining equipment. Two more guard this area.

There is also a side tunnel leading off of the bottom of the downward slope. On planets with sufficiently low gravity, it is possible to jump and boost up a hole in the ceiling of this tunnel to bypass much of the mine and reach the midpoint of the second cavern.

A doorway in the far side of the cavern leads to another tunnel, which in turn leads to the top of the second cavern. This a deep room with a mix of slopes, catwalks, and stairs circling around the sides. There are a pair of raised platforms at the bottom. Three guards are located on the upper catwalks, plus three more and the boss positioned on the lower platforms.
