A Thermal Rise is a point of interest found on planets with the Energetic Rifting trait.

In order to discover the associated planet trait, you'll need to scan 1-3 Fumarole Fields. The fields have the following description when you look at them with your scanner: "The rift valley pulls itself apart, opening fissures for hot gases and vapors to be emitted."
