Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Talk to Emma Wilcox at The Rock in Akila City.
  2. Complete a mission for the Freestar Rangers.
  3. Head to Montara Luna with Emma and track the thugs who intimidated Mikaela Waggoner.
  4. Confront and kill the thugs.
  5. Return to Mikaela, starting Where Hope is Built.

Notable Loot[edit]

When Marshal Daniel Blake makes you a deputy Ranger he hands you FreeStar Deputy Badge, Deadeye, 7.5mm Whitehot, Ranger Deputy Uniform and Deputy Hat.

Notes[edit]

  • Quest comments indicate that one point, Helga Dubray was intended to accompany the player to Montara Luna during this quest. In the final game, Emma Wilcox accompanies the player instead.
  • Emma is not considered a companion or crew member, and does not count towards either limit, but will continuously accompany the player until this mission is complete, allowing two accompanying characters at once.

Companion Affinity[edit]

There are multiple affinity events that can happen during this mission.

The player just joined the Freestar Ranges as a Deputy. Upon hearing about a farmer being threatened by thugs, the player said "Time for some rough justice," implying violence. The ranger the player is talking to then chastised them for it, saying violence is a last resort for Rangers.[affinity 2]

After a firefight with some bandits, the player is asked "Are you okay?" by the Freestar Ranger who's doing the player's field evaluation. In the first response, the player said "It's not my first firefight, indicating previous combat experience and displaying cool confidence.[affinity 3]

The player just said "I thought we were dead for sure" after a gunfight. This could be viewed as a lack of faith or a statement of cowardice.[affinity 4]

Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Mission system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all entries may appear in your log; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the mission is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with missions that have multiple possible outcomes or missions where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Mission" it means the mission disappears from the Active Mission list, but you may still receive new entries for that mission.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the mission by entering setstage FC02 stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) mission stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the mission using resetquest FC02.
