Andres Jensen is a miner on Cydonia for Deimos Staryards Inc. He is the intended recipient of a letter from his family.

From 8PM to 5AM he can be found in the Deimos Miner Quarters. For the rest of the day he can be found working in the mine.

He wears a Miner Jacketed Jumpsuit. He also has a Deimos Spacesuit, Deimos Space Helmet, and a Deimos Tunnel for hostile conditions. He keeps a Cutter for mining on her, and a Rescue Axe for self defense. Andres Jensen has a standard amount of Credits, and can carry Aid Items.

Dialogue[edit]

Andres has numerous greetings:

"Someone's been putting up cute drawings of some little alien creature or something. Reminds me of my kid back home."
"Sounds like Rivkah's got something going on with her lungs. Wish I could help her out, but she doesn't like talking about it to me for some reason."
"Hey, I'm sure Gilly appreciated your help with that psych evaluation. She's a nice lady."
"Oof. Been a long week."
"Just found out my request for more paid time off for us senior miners was approved. Can't wait to take a trip home to surprise my family!"
"On days like these, it's hard not to get homesick. But I gotta keep at it for my family back home."
"Just a couple more tours of duty here, and I can retire for good."
"Mining the Red Planet ain't easy work, that's for sure."

If you stop speaking mid-conversation, Andres Jensen will say:

"You ok?"
"Something wrong?"
"So... what's up?"

Andres ends conversations by saying:

"Later."
"Okay, bye."
"See you."

The first time you speak to Andres, he will have a unique greeting:

"Hey there, you a new hire? I thought all our positions were full."
Oh, no, I'm just here to talk.
"How about that. Well, if you're interested in mining, I could talk your ear off."
Actually, I'm helping Trevor with a little project.
"Oh yeah? You know, I heard him talking about trying to get someone to help us out with our equipment situation. That must be it. Well, I hope it works out, because my cutter keeps breaking down on me, and that shit's getting real old."
Actually, I'm helping Gilly from corporate with something.
"Oh? Interesting. Usually, she comes down here herself if she needs something. I'm glad she's finally got an assistant."
Not right now, but I'd like to. I do have a mining background.
"Hey, that's great! Sorry we don't have anything open at the moment. Maybe there'll be something when I retire... If I retire. The end of my contract's coming up, but I'm still not sure about it."
[Lie] Yep, I just started.
"Nah, you've got to be pulling my leg. They always announce new hires. And, now that I think of it, I'm actually pretty damn sure they don't have any open positions. But I've been wrong before, so whatever."

Regardless of the previous choice, he will then continue:

"Anyway, I'm Andres. Nice to meet you. Something else I can help you with?"

You can ask Andres about a few topics:

Have you ever heard of this Heart of Mars thing?
"Heart of Mars? Oh, you're best not getting mixed up in that. I'm not going to stop you, but don't tell me I didn't try to warn you. Nothing good can come of it."
Been doing this a while?
"About fifteen years now. It's good work. Good money. Only problem is that it keeps me away from my family. They live well, but I hardly see them. Who knows. Maybe this is the year I let my contract renewal lapse and I finally retire."
Mars is pretty harsh. How's the mining pay compare to other places?
"Let's just say that I've made enough here to retire early if I wanted to and do something else with my life. Still not sure that's what I want yet, though. Other operations... I'd probably have to put in another ten, fifteen years to get where I am today. Deimos seems to prioritize its employees, which is a nice change of pace from the industry."
So you're thinking of retiring?
"Just from mining, not work entirely. I think about it every time my contract comes up. See, I'm quite a few systems away from my family. I get to see them whenever I get the chance, but it's hard watching my kid grow up without me, and it's not easy on his mom, either. I'm conflicted because the job pays so well, and I want to earn enough so that my kid never has to do what I did to make ends meet."

You have a few possible responses:

You should retire. Spending time with family is more important than money.
"You're not wrong. It's becoming more and more clear that's what's important to me. But at the same time, they understand. Either way, it's going to be a tough call."
Can't argue with that. Sounds like you're investing in the future of your family.
"That's what I keep telling myself. I'm doing this for a very good reason. And my wife, she gets it, too. Still, that doesn't make it any easier. No matter what, it's a tough decision."
You've got to make whatever choice is best for you.
"Yeah, I know. It's going to take some real soul searching to figure it out. I have a feeling it's going to be one of those cases where whatever I choose, it'll be the right decision, and yet the wrong decision all at once. Time will tell."

Mission-Related Events[edit]

Andres Jensen is one of the employees subject to a psych evaluation during the events of Psyched. Like the other employees, he will not give much trouble over it.

Gilly wanted me to get you to fill out this questionnaire.
"Oh, is it that time already? Sure, this'll only take a moment. Let's see... yup... uh huh... Oh, no no... Mhmm... That question again? Well, alright... Okay, that should do it. Here you go! Tell her I said "hi," will ya?"

The evaluation he returns will have some minor variations, based on your actions. They can be seen here, here, here, and here.

He will have a few extra greetings after filling out the form:

"I'm wondering if I should change one of my answers... Nah."
"I don't know why people worry about these evaluations."
"Piece of cake, right?"
