Starfield:Planets
Planets are smaller celestial bodies that orbit stars. Planets will have markers indicating major locations, such as New Atlantis. You can choose to land at these major locations, but you can also choose to land anywhere else on the planet.
There are 691 planets and 1,001 moons in the Settled Systems. You can also use our interactive Starfield map at https://maps.starfieldwiki.net to search for planets and view basic planet data.
Planet Properties[edit]
Planets and moons have different properties. Some properties are known as soon as the player enters the Star Systems where the planet is located.
Known immediately | Learned from orbital scan | Learned from surface scan |

Known planet types include Asteroid, Barren, Gas giant, Ice, and Rock. Gas giants can't be landed on, but often have moons. Asteroids also cannot be landed on. (Planets where landing is not possible can be instantly scanned to 100% from orbit.)
Gravity impacts the height of jumps, the trajectory of thrown objects, the oxygen penalty of movement, and the risk of injury when falling. Note that the surface gravity of a body is often not inherited by locations on that body that require a loading screen to reach (e.g. mines, caves, named structures); such locations often have their gravity set to 1. (It is unknown whether this is a bug or intentional.)

Planets can have the following traits:
- Active Faulting
- Aeriform Life
- Amphibious Foothold
- Boiled Seas
- Bolide Bombardment
- Charred Ecosystem
- Continual Conductor
- Coralline Landmass
- Crystalline Crust
- Diseased Biosphere

- Primordial Network
- Prismatic Plumes
- Psychotropic Biota
- Sentient Microbial Colonies
- Slushy Subsurface Seas
- Solar Storm Seasons
- Sonorous Lithosphere
Moons[edit]
Moons orbit around planets, and tend to be smaller than planets. There are no gas moons.
