GalBank Legacy is an abandoned GalBank transport vessel in orbit around Bannoc IV.
On its final voyage the Legacy was transporting CredTanks from the United Colonies to the Freestar Collective as Colony War reparations. During the transit it was attacked by Crimson Fleet headed by Jasper Kryx. This attack destroyed the Legacy's guard vessels, destroyed its engines, and flung it lightyears off course into the orbit of Bannoc IV.
Due to Bannoc's IV severe ion storms, the Legacy rapidly degraded. However, engineer Osterholt managed to rig together a strong electromagnetic shield by utilizing the shielding in the CredTanks. This provided excellent and lasting protection from the ion storm. While this stopped the immediate threat of destruction, its destroyed engines, difficult location, and distance from planned course meant rescue was nearly impossible. Crewmembers Baccara and Osterholt committed suicide while the rest died due to starvation.
GalBank removed all record of the ship from public and governmental record, keeping information about the ship only in the GalBank Archives.
Forty years after this event Jasper Kryx returned to the Legacy using a custom-made electromagnetic shield on his ship. However, due to sabotage from rival Crimson Fleet member Isa Mellant, his ship was destroyed in the process. He spend some time attempting to escape from the ship before succumbing to hunger, dying in the vault control room.
During the events of Starfield, the Player utilized a ComSpike, stolen from UC Navy, and electromagnetic shielding technology, stolen from Generdyne Industries, to return to the Legacy. Here, they returned power to the CredTanks in order to remove the credits from them into their own storage container. However, doing this removed the Legacy's electromagnetic protection causing its rapid destruction. The Player escaped with the credits before the ship was entirely destroyed.
