A timeline of known events.

• 2050—Humans arrive on Mars.
• Circa 2100—Humans begin living in space.
• 2138-Dr Victor Aiza at NASA completes the first prototype Grav Drive. NASA and Nova Galactic begin collaboration on Project Prism.
• 2141-First manned faster-than-light jump.
• 2156—Humans arrive in Alpha Centauri.
• 2159—The United Colonies are established.
• 2160—New Atlantis is founded.
• 2161—New Atlantis becomes the capital of the United Colonies. The United Colonies issues the Centaurus Proclamation, opening the frontier to independent settlers.
• 2167—Cheyenne is settled. Akila City is its first settlement, founded by Solomon Coe.
• 2188—Chronomark is founded.
• 2189—The Freestar Collective is founded by an alliance between Cheyenne and Volii.
• 2190-A colony ship carrying Jinan Va'ruun disappears.
• 2194—The star station the Clinic is placed in orbit of Deepala in the Narion system by UC. The local population asks for its removal, which UC refuses to do. In response to this threat, the people of Narion join the FC.
• 2195—FC mobilizes to protect Narion from UC.
• 2196—FC and UC both deploy fleets to Narion, starting the Narion War.
• 2203—Earth becomes uninhabitable.
• 2216—After twenty years, the Narion War concludes with the Treaty of Narion. This treaty defines the term Settled Systems.
• 2221—The Freestar Rangers are founded.
• 2230-House Va'ruun makes first contact with the United Colonies and Freestar Collective.
• 2240-House Va'ruun launches invasions of both the United Colonies and Freestar Collective, beginning the Serpent's Crusade.
• 2263-Jinan Va'ruun dies. His successor, Jarek Va'ruun, sues for peace, ending the Serpent's Crusade.
• 2275—Constellation is founded by Sebastian Banks, with initial members including Chloe Bao, Aja Mamasa, Darius Andris, Beradette Laurent, Everado Gil, and Kandri Toma. The Lodge, the headquarters for Constellation, is built in New Atlantis.
• 2305—Barrett joins Constellation.
• 2307—FC forms a farming colony on Vesta in the Lunara system.
• 2308—UC protests the colonization of Vesta as a violation of the Treaty of Narion. Diplomacy fails, leading to the beginning of the Colony War.
• 2310—Constellation recovers their first Artifact. It is stored in their archives.
• 2311—The Battle of Cheyenne occurs. FC civilian and military ships defeat the major ships of the UC Navy with hit-and-run tactics. This effectively ends the Colony War. The UC, FC, and House Va'ruun sign the Armistice Agreement, banning xenowarfare and mech technology. House Va'ruun breaks off diplomatic relations and isolates itself.
• 2315—The UC Vanguard is founded as the UC's civilian navy, in response to the effectiveness of civilian ships by the FC in the Colony War. Citizenship in the UC is the ultimate incentive for joining the Vanguard.
• 2319—Sarah Morgan becomes the head of the UC Navigator Corps.
• 2320—The UC Navigator Corps are disbanded. Sarah Morgan joins Constellation.
• 2321—Walter Stroud, co-owner of the Stroud-Ecklund starship manufacturing company, joins Constellation, and becomes their primary financial backer.
• 2322—Vladimir Sall joins Constellation.
• 2325—Sarah Morgan becomes the acting Chair of Constellation.
• 2325—Matteo Khatri joins Constellation.
• 2326—Barrett discovers the Artifact in the archives. Nishina Research Station is founded.
• 2326—Noel joins Constellation.
• 2327—Sam Coe and his daughter Cora join Constellation.
• 2328—Andreja joins Constellation.
• 2328—Constellation purchases Starstation L-868 under the advisement of Barrett. It is modified to become a deep space scanner, and is nicknamed "The Eye".
• 2330—The events of Starfield begin.
