Sylvie Munich

Sylvie Munich is a resident of New Homestead on Titan.

Background[edit]

Young Sylvie is the daughter of Maura Munich and Nathaniel Manila.[1] She values honesty, a virtue her mother taught her.[2] When she is not assisting her parents with the farm,[3] she goes to school with a few other kids her age, where they mostly learn the history of the Sol system in preparation for their "learning vacation."[4][5]

In her free time, she likes to speak with visitors to expand her knowledge.[6] While her mother does not have any problems with her doing so, her father forbade her to talk with strangers,[7][8] out of fear that his family would leave him over their curiosity for other worlds.[9]

References[edit]

  1. Maura Munich: "What's New Atlantis like?"
Player: "It's amazing. Huge skyscrapers, beautiful skies, people from all walks of life!"
Maura Munich: "Oh my! That sounds incredible. Ever since I overheard one of the tourists speaking about it, I've always wanted to go! We hear about it, of course, but we rarely get much exposure to other worlds beyond the people who come from them to visit our little colony. I wonder if I can convince Nathaniel to go on a trip there with me and our daughter."
  2. Sylvie Munich: "Hello. I'm not really supposed to talk with tourists, but I kinda want to anyway, and I don't think my papa is paying attention. You're not going to tell him, are you?"
Player: "I don't think I will. Not unless he asks."
Sylvie Munich: "Oh. I guess that's okay. I wouldn't want to make you lie. My momma always tells me it's not good to lie."
  3. Player: "Do you enjoy working on the farm?"
Sylvie Munich: "I think it's pretty fun. And, I get to be around my momma and my papa all day, so that's cool. They say we all have to work a little, 'cause it takes all of us to make the community work, just like on Earth a really really really long time ago! Someday I think it'd be cool to see other places and do other things, but this is fine for now."
  4. Player: "Are there a lot of other kids in New Homestead?"
Sylvie Munich: "Not really. There's some, though. Most are around my age. We all go to school in the same room. "
  5. Player: "Is school here the same as other schools in the Settled Systems?"
Sylvie Munich: "I don't know, I've never been to any other schools. We mostly learn about the history of the Sol system, and Earth, and stuff like that, until we get old enough to go on our 'learning vacation.' That's when we leave to go to school somewhere else for a few years, or travel and visit other worlds, try out jobs and stuff. I can't wait!"
  6. Sylvie Munich: "Hello. I'm not really supposed to talk with tourists, but I kinda want to anyway, and I don't think my papa is paying attention. You're not going to tell him, are you?"
Player: "No, not if you don't want me to."
Sylvie Munich: "Oooh! Thank you! I promise it'll be fun. I like talking to tourists! I get to learn so much about everyone else, and they get to learn about here."
  7. Sylvie Munich: "Hello. I'm not really supposed to talk with tourists, but I kinda want to anyway, and I don't think my papa is paying attention. You're not going to tell him, are you?"
Player: "Maybe we should respect your parents' wishes."
Sylvie Munich: "It's just my daddy, really. My momma's okay with it. But... oh.. fine... If you don't wanna, I get it. But, um... I love talking with tourists. So... I'll be here if you still want to talk."
  8. Sylvie Munich: "Hello. I'm not really supposed to talk with tourists, but I kinda want to anyway, and I don't think my papa is paying attention. You're not going to tell him, are you?"
Player: "Sorry, kid. Now I feel like I have to tell him. "
Sylvie Munich: "No! Don't! I mean... actually... it's okay. If I'm going to get into trouble anyway, then I'm just going to talk. But um... still, please don't tell him."
  9. Player: "Why doesn't your dad want you talking to tourists?"
Sylvie Munich: "My momma says it's because he thinks we'd up and leave if we found out about the rest of the worlds out there. But, I keep telling him, I love it here, and I love him, and I would never leave him! He doesn't believe it. He says the kids almost always want to leave when they grow up. But not me. Nope. I just want to visit somewhere else, maybe."
