question on a step in quick walkthrough

I didn't get the step "Return to the ECS Constant and tell Captain Brackenridge about your purchase." after I returned from HopeTown in option B. The quest pointed me directly to engineering, and the captain didn't have new dialogue before I did the stuff with Amin in engineering. Maybe this is a mixup?
