Ervin Madani was Barrett's late husband, a biologist, botanist, and a physician from the Freestar Collective. He died during the Colony War. According to Barrett, Ervin was an amazing cook and only used plants, fungi, and algae in his cooking. He had a spikey plant he named "Harvey", Ervin told Barrett that the plant was 1000 years old and one of a handful still in existence. Ervin was brought to The Clinic, but it was too late when he arrived.
