Starfield:Contraband

From Starfield Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Contraband are items that have been deemed illegal in the Settled Systems, such as the drug Aurora, mech parts, human organs, xenowarfare technology, and more. Security will scan you for contraband when orbiting certain planets and will attempt to arrest you if any is detected in your inventory or in your ship's cargo. Contraband items in your inventory are marked with a yellow icon. Companions will not carry contraband for you.

These items cannot be sold to regular vendors, instead certain unethical vendors must be used to sell contraband. In addition, while certain planets will scan you for contraband, the contraband can be smuggled in via elements like shielded cargo holds.

Vendors Who Buy[edit]

Most vendors elect to not deal with the highly illegal goods. However, there are a number throughout the Settled Systems who are willing to take the risk.

  • All Trade Authority vendors (not Kiosks) will purchase contraband. All, with the notable exception of Marcel Duris in The Den, are on planet that scan for contraband and thus require the contraband to be smuggled in.
  • All the vendors aboard The Key. The Key, obviously, does not scan for contraband when entering.

Smuggling[edit]

Planets with major settlements on them will scan as you enter orbit. This scan can be evaded by various means:

Each item provides an increased stacking chance to avoid detection when scanned. The calculation if you have evaded scanning occurs at the end of the scanning process, so it is possible to save during a scan and repeatedly reload to force a result.
